We cannot find a good set of answers when my M-I-L with dementia asks where her husband is (he passed eleven years ago). Ideas?

Saying "He cannot be here right now" or "He's working" (she lives on the ranch he worked on and it is now closed), or "He went to town" (he never went alone as he moved here in midlife and never learned to speak English; we tried this once and she looked out the window for him for hours before we finally got her in bed at 1a.m.). Any ideas?

Thank you so much! We were able to prepare a list of answers to choose from the next time this happens, which is a relief in itself. Thank you again.

Sorry that last set of links didn't work well. But if you copy and paste it into your browser, you'll get over 100 threads on the topic.

Can you say he's visiting someone else and will be back in a couple of days, or has gone for a short visit to his home country or something like that, where she won't expect him back immediately? Then you need to distract her with something else, so she doesn't dwell on it.

There are a lot of threads on here about this very question. If you do some searching around, you'll find them. There has been one in the past couple of days with a lot of answers about this same question. Good luck...I hope you can find something that works. I'll see if I can find that other thread and post it here for you.
