How can I get my Dementia patient to take a bath?

We ask him to take a bath. He goes in there and sits on the toilet and just runs water. We found out that he wets the towels then he gets dressed. What can I do?

He has alz. The days of him being able to do things like washing on his own are over. Accept it. He won't be able to toilet alone too much longer either, among other things. He needs help and assistance, please give it. If it feels awkward at first to bathe your dad, you'll get over that soon enough. Give him a towel to hold over his privates if he's the one embarrassed. Talk soothingly to him, tell him it's no big deal. Eventually things like this become routine. Best of luck!

Stay in there with him and offer to HELP him. Maybe he's afraid of falling, which is common with the elderly. With someone to assist him and help him wash you might have much better luck.
