My husband needs cataract surgery. He has early stage dementia, should I go ahead and schedule him?

and schedule in the hopes he will not worsen in the meantime and they can do it successfully if his dementia worsens.

My experience with dementia has been that it can be a slow progression. You stated he has early stage mild dementia? He can still perform ADL's without assistance? Not seeing well will not help him cope with his declining memory or cognitive function. Can they not schedule it within the next few weeks? You do not want to have to do for him what he can do for himself before it is absolutely necessary. This surgery could be a gift you give yourself.
