Does anyone know where I can find personal transportation for my elderly mother?

My mother shouldn't be driving but before I bring it up, I want alternatives to offer her for getting the places she needs to go.

some churches and other civic organization have groups that will provide transport. Or does she have a friend or neighbor that would help out? So many people unemployed they are doing all kinds of things for extra cash.

Overwhelm, taxi companies should have gift cards or something along those lines. Perhaps they would setup an account that would be billed each month.

I think it all depends on where you live. My mom is wheelchair bound and when I first looked into the costs, I was appalled - $75.00 each way for private transport.

I am in the Mpls./St. Paul area and learned of Smart Transit. $3.25 each way and there are multiple pickups each day. It doesn't work in our situation due to her inability to walk when actually getting to the dentist, hair appt., etc.

If you are in a major metro area look into a smart transit type thing on an internet search. Call your local Senior Citizens center or Agency on Aging. They would be able to help you find the info.

I wish you and your mom well!

Good question! I have the same predicament. The services I have found are not adequate as you pretty much get a ride to the dr. but then they come back when they get good & ready so you have to sit there all day.
Thinking about....what would a taxi cost? Could I maybe open up a credit card (in my name) for her to use in those situations?
