Mother has HMO insurance and needs a supplemental insurance to help with coverage for back surgery so she can walk again. Please advise?

HMO is the medical insurance. Are you looking for Long Term Care insurance, as an aide in recovery? Not sure if a policy can be bought to cover something which is already imminent, read the policy carefully.

You are in CA. You don't give your mom's age.

With mobility problems & needing caretaking, she's likely 65+ ?

So this confusing...if someone has elected an HMO, then THAT IS their insurance, and they would not even be eligible to obtain a supplemental.

Please post additional details in order to get more accurate information.

The new affordable care act has deductibles of 6000 for individual and the only way to covert those amounts are with supplements insurances like hospital, accidental, critical illness. If you are in Florida I can assist you with that. I'm appointed with BlueCross Blue Shield. Also it is good to see the plan that you have for your parents.

Doesn't her HMO insurance cover surgery?

How old is your mother?

Have you looked at the insurance options available in her state under the Affordable Health Care, starting January?
