How can I get a certified ostomy care nurse to come to visit my mum at home?

everything we read, says their job is not complete until a patient is correctly fitted with a proper ostomy bag, and that it must also fit the physical limitations of her in her environment, but we can't find ANY who will visit and the issues still continue.

Spotswood, was there an ostomy nurse at the hospital where the surgery was performed? That would be my first stop. If you have tried w/o success, call the dir of nursing at that hospital to see if there is another suggestion. Ditto for other nearby hospitals.

You might also check the website for ostomy nurses to see if there is someone in that organization that can help you. wocn.org My friend was an ostomy specialist and she did make home and follow up visits.

Fortunately, the caregiver we hired was great with that. Also, the home health service we used provided supplies and kept watch over the ostomy site. I find it strange
you can't find anyone to help with this. There are different types of bags - the most useful one being the "snap on". Worked great for my mom. (She has since had a reversal.)
