My 81yr FIL does not clean himself after bowel movements, I've even found used tissue paper on bathroom sink. How or can we fix this?

My 77yr old MIL tries to clean herself and gets poop all over the bathroom on the side of the vanity,on the wall,on the closet door. When we speak to her about it she swears it wasn't her and that we blame her for everything. I limit her to one bathroom on the main floor of my house.I've raised the flag of surrender and just clean it up because its more stress to argue than to clean nastiness constantly. I keep my upstairs bathroom pristine and its all mine. Recently, she spent a week in the hospital and my 1st floor bathroom stayed clean all week!!! I almost feel guilty for being so happy that week but we all know how 24/7 caretaking is. You may just have to choose your battle to maintain sanity, GOOD LUCK

Hi my mum is 74yrs and does this BUT she has a colostomy bag and leaves them lying around anywhere not very nice. i used to go mad and ask her what she was doing but now think she has dementia so i just clean up after her and say nothing why humiliate them they dont know what they are doing so my advice is let it go its not nice but not thier fault. I dont know if your fil has any dementia but saying something will just embarrass him and you. I have rubber gloves all over house!!
