We are taking my 92 y/o mother in since her stroke and wonder how others come up with the monthly cost and what they charge?

I'm an RN with extensive home care experience but we are trying to come up with a fair cost to care for my mother in our home. Four of my brothers are in total agreement with this arrangement but one wonders what is best for Mom and can we provide everything.Otherwise she goes to a skilled nursing home. Other than all the personal care and mental health care needs what other ideas should we consider? Thank you for this outlet.

You might want to get some quotes from home healthcare agencies as to what they charge for 24-hour care. Keep in mind a 24-hour caregiver is allowed at least 6 hours of sleep a night and has scheduled days off. Use this formula as a template and tailor it to suit your situation. And if you want to get really technical about it take into consideration mileage, usually $.50/mile (at least where I live), for trips to the Dr.

I'm so glad to hear that everyone's on board. It sounds like you'll have a great support system.
