How do you find overnight care?

Our dad has caregivers during the day, but needs overnight caregivers as well. He has some dementia and should not be left alone at night. His agency cannot pay for the overnight care. He pays a co-share now for them to come in for morning hrs. and supper time hrs.

Yes, our dad pays a co-share for his care thru the agency as he gets his care thru the county. So he pays anywhere from $450 a month up to $650 a month. It varies depending on what his bills are at home. So the agency only allows x amount of hours and dollars for his care and there is not enough monies or hours left for any nighttime care. The caregivers are there from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 & then return from 4:30 pm to 6:30pm...But he really needs somebody to stay night with him and we all live farther away. I also am not quite sure about how we would pay for this either. I am thinking we may have to go with an assisted living facility because this is beginning to look impossible..

I don't know, but possibly you could find someone who could spend nights there/or live in for free room and board, and this person could keep an eye on him. My mother has a loud bell by her bed and rings it if she needs help. Of course, it is best to do a background check on everyone, no matter how great they may seem.

Not real sure if I understand. His agency can't pay for overnight care? Doesn't your dad pay for his caregivers? Does your dad get his caregivers through an agency? I don't know what a 'co-share' is but if your dad goes through an agency they should be able to provide overnight staff.
