How should I react to my mom's OCD?

She is in late stage CHF, has dementia & is angry & scared. She won't take any new meds--such as anti-anxiety or sleeping meds--because she is afraid to sleep & thinks she will die or I & my siblings will kill her. Two shrinks refused to declare her unable to make her own medical decisions.

Hi MishkaM, CHF is congestive heart failure. Her symptoms include: trash phobia--trash has to be taken out in plastic bags as soon as it is decided it is trash. She has no indoor trashcan. Same with dishes. Must be washed & put away immediately. No drainboard. No kitchen towels--paper towels only. Relentless orders to move furniture, window blinds, etc to the exact location she wants them to be. Trying to have a pleasant conversation is impossible. If you try to tell her you'll do what she orders later, or tell her to do it herself, she yells, curses and acts like she's dying. She has a heaven-sent live-in helper & is going to lose her with this abusive behavior.

Hi Pamelli,
I have OCD maybe I can help. My daughter has it too and my Mom. What exactly are her OCD symptoms? And, sorry but want is CHF? Too bad about the doctors! We're they geriatric psychiatrists? If not I would try that route. If you can give me some examples of her OCD I can try and help.
