What does a heart clinic do?

My father has CHF. At his last appt with his cardiologist told us he is to start going to a heart clinic. Can anyone tell me what they will do , that his doctor can't? Thank you.

My husband took diuretics for the chf water retention, but that was monitored by his geriatrician, not the heart clinic. He was also provided with a scale hooked up to the phone line, that sent his weight to be monitored each day. When there were drastic changes a nurse would call and go over it with me. (Not with him, because he had dementia.) Maybe your heart clinic will provide such a scale, or maybe they have other things to try. When you have the appointment, come back and post what you find out!

(PS The clinic probably has a website, and you may be able to find out the various things they do.)

He has CHF and has been retaining fluid the past couple weeks. He's going to be 88 in May. The last couple bouts we have had recently have been a little worse each time. Both he and my mother also have dementia. That sometimes makes it difficult to understand what he is feeling as he has trouble stating what exactly is wrong or how he feels. I was just wondering what the next step is.

The heart clinic my husband went to had sophisticated equipment to test his pacemaker. What did the cardiologist tell your father he was to go to the clinic for? Or isn't Dad too clear on that?
