What is the Medicaid diversion plan?

igloo572 Dec 2012
Are you asking about Medicaid waiver programs? In some states (I think FL) they are called diversion programs. They provide limited funding to pay for the R & B of residents of ALF that qualify financially for Medicaid but do not need the skilled nursing care medical need that Medicaid requires. So some states have a program that diverts NH Medicaid $$$$ to ALF $$ to pay for their care. It is a way of not spending as much $ as ALF are so much less than a NH. Not all states have them and those that do have just a limited ALF and long waiting lists.
