What's wrong with my Mom--she won't get out of bed?

My Mom wouldn't get out of bed. After spending a day of testing at the hospital they found nothing physically wrong with her. A few days later she still yells like she is in pain and is having trouble speaking. She won't get out of bed and wants to stay in a saturated bed of urine. I have been giving ensure to get norishment in her. What do I do. Does she need to go to a nursing home? She has advanced dementia.

Yes, I believe she should be in a care center where her physical needs can be met. I also wonder if Hospice Care is the appropriate approach at this time. Have you considered that?

jomamma, I am so sad that this is happening. In your shoes, I would definitely be looking to place her in a NH. It sounds like your mother needs a team of people to care for her now. It would be so much better to be able to visit her, knowing she is cared for, and not having to do so much yourself. Big hugs to you during this change.
