My Mother-In-Law has dementia. She has become incontinent. How can we keep Depends on her?

Seriously, I have no idea, but I wish you the best, and laugh whenever you can.

My mom has dementia and takes her depends off and pees on the floor. I need to know if you have anything out there that could keep her from taking her depends off. I tried Buck&Buck, she gets that off, the jumpsuit with the zipper in the back.

Thank you sooooo much for the website of Buck and Buck. This is just what I have been looking for. I have depends on my husband but when he has to potty I cannot get him to stand close enough to the toilet to hit the water. Have to keep a towel around the bottom of the toilet to soak up the PP Sometimes he will go outside and since the depends do not have a PP hole he will come from the side and not know to put himself back in the depends correctly. This results in the next PP going down his leg and me having to change everything he has on. Even socks. Why don't they make depends for men with PP holes. Would be much easier. All open for suggestions.

A company that makes adaptive clothing for seniors with dementia and alzheimers. You may find something there that can help you and your mom. We purchased jumpsuits there for my dad which the B&C Home use for night time pajamas. It prevents the kinds of "accidents" to which you refer. Talk to the customer service people there, they are most friendly & very knowledgeable.

I thought I would have problems with my mother-in-law when we changed her to Depends, but she began wearing them without issue. She, too, tries to wash dirty depends & puts wet ones in the washer. I take them out of the washer & put them in the trash. I just make sure she has gone to the bathroom before I use the washer. I do however have the problem of her turning them wrong side out. The seams are on the outside and this isn't natural to her.
All of this is worth not having to do laundry everyday, mopping up the trail on the way to the bathroom, and changing her bedding daily.

They do have washable underwear....a little pricey...like 25.00 for one, but you can order them through magazines like Easy Comforts or Make Life Easier. Also if you have a drug store in town that also specializes in medical equiptment, they usually not only have walkers, wheelchairs, but also smaller items such as the underwear with pads built in, so that they can be washed, which would work perfectly for her. They can be ordered for different protection needs...10 oz of fluid loss, 17 oz of fluid loss...etc. Just go on the internet and type in bladder control underwear with built in pad. You'll be able to see what would work the best then. Good luck!
