Low income but not low enough for legal aide. How do I obtain guardianship of my mother?

I have had power of Atty. for my Mom for at least 2 or 3 years, she has Alzheimer now and i would like to obtain Guardianship. I do have assesments from her PCP and a Pscycho-neurologist. I don't have a big income but have already tried legal aide and it is too much to use their services. Can you please help?

Just in case anyone needs money to help pay for some of their elderly parents expenses I suggest you check out this personal fundraising website. It's exactly what it is for, so that you can raise funds for whatever you need.

Guardianship can refer to a SINGLE SPECIFIC issue, like medical, financial or legal only. It can also refer to only 2 (like medical and financial) or all three. Much of this depends on how and what you've applied for. What is the POA you already have for? Is it only for ONE or TWO of the issues or all three? I'm also wondering why you would need guardianship, if you already have a POA...... unless, for example, you only have a medical POA and are now looking to have legal rights over your mother's legal and financial matters.

Call your State Bar Association for a referral to a pro bono attorney in your area.

If you already have POA why would you need to get guardianship too?

Guardianship is suppose to be expensive I've heard. Why do you need that. I am POA and caregiver for my mother.
