My dad suffers from dementia. Sometimes he will urinate anywhere in the house except the bathroom. How can I stop this?
He uses adult diapers but it's mostly so that when we take him out he won't go on himself. He still remembers to use the bathroom but this usually happens after he wakes up from sleeping. How can I stop this?
I wish I could give you a magic answer, but I can't. He gets confused, knows he needs to go to the bathroom, but "forgets" where. This isn't unusual - so if misery loves company you have lots of company. If you can stay of top of his need to go and gently lead him to the toilet ahead of his urge, that may help. Some people even set a timer for themselves, so they can do this. Maybe others on the forum will have more suggestions. Take care, Carol
