My husband has just sarted to lose control of his bowels. He is in the later stages of Alzheimer's. How can I help him to not be upset?

When I visited him last week his bottom was red to blue back.

Are the care takers putting him on the potty after he eats in the morning? That would help him eliminate without soiling himself. I do that with my 99 year old mother and it seems to work.
