I'm concerned my mother will leave my home and wander off. I've tried door knobs that don't allow children to get out, but she got out to bring the dog. What's the best solution?

Maybe a good idea would be investing in a motion sensing security system. You could get a self installed one and put it either inside or outside so it notifies you any time they open the door so you can go lead them back to their room? We did this with my stepdad who used to wader around town occasionally and it worked pretty well. This is what we used, http://www.absoluteautomation.com/irpr2500-dakota-alert-2500-ft-indoor-infrared-sensor-and-pager-receiver/ hope it helps!

San, We had double locking deadbolts installed on Mom's doors after she started wandering. She can no longer walk alone, but at the time, they worked great! They do not have a nob to turn. You have to use a key to disengage the deadbolt from both sides. Of course you need to realize that this can be a safety issue, so the key should be where you can reach it at all times. It only takes a few seconds for them to disappear! Let your neighbors know of your concerns and tell them to call you if they ever see her out on her own. I found this to be a help also. Good luck.
