Will an AARP reimbursement disqualify a terminally ill patient from receiving Medicaid?

Can a trust be establsihed to protect the funds?

EXPERT Ralph Robbins Sep 2010
I am presuming you are speaking of an AARP Medicare supplement policy for someone over the age of 65.

If so, the answer is no, reimbursement for Medicare approved medical servces wil not disqualify a patient from Medicaid. The reimbursement is not considered "income" which is what I suspect your concern is.

Same holds true for Hospice, by the way.
