How can I find out about why I was put on Social Security Disability after brain surgery in the year of 2000? It's my right to know!

I started receiving disability a year ago. I applied for it 3 years ago - normal time frame. When you applied for social security, you are also "applying" for disability, if you have problems, and suplemental security. The social security administration checks things over and you must give them the names, etc. of any medical personel who know about your case (doctors, physical therapists, etc.) As it was 10 years ago, and you had brain surgery, it isn't too far fetched that you might have forgotten much of it. Basically, they have determined that you are unable to work at whatever you did before. I was a real estate agent who sold rural ranch and timber land as well as houses. After the 6th joint in my body developed arthritis, it was determined that climbing hills, walking large acreages and climbing up and down stairs was out. Thus I can't work in something I had done for years. Plus, I'm 65. :)

Who did the application for disability-it is quite compherhensive and it needs MD. reports usually and the reason why disability is necessary and what the person can and can't do-they would not have paid for 10 years if there was not a reason-the person who did it would have needed you to sign the application and your MD would have copies of his paperwork and in the beginning every so often they require updates if you are not able to get this information yourself a lawyer would be able to get it for you good luck and let us know how you are doing.
