My father-in-law moved in after a stroke. The doctor won't admit him to assisted living. Where can I place him, so I can have my life back?

Assive living is not the place for him he needs more care in a nursing home the social worker would be able to assist with the paperwork for medicaide and they would check into his ability to pay if he has assest he may have to spend down by paying for nursing home until he reaches a certain amount of money to qualify and there is a look back period of 5 yrs. if he gave away money in order to qualify that money would have to be returned before he would qualify for medicaide-there is a lenghly application and then you meet with social service and they will tell you if he qualifies if not he would have to pay for care until enough of his money is spent-you might have to get an elder lawyer to assist you-you can use his money to pay for that.
