Are there any medical alert systems designed for a person with extremely limited digital dexterity as a result of arthritis?

The wrist one might be helpful and if they turn them on by mistake no one gets upset. Ours works outside around most of our house except in one area my son tested it out outside even when the doors were closed because my husband liked to be outside the better ones call you about once a month always after you have used the phone there are some where the pt. has to call in and can be a hassel so it is important to choose the right one I kept it going because I fall easiely and it is usually at home so they are a God send,

Rip: She is currently in a rehab facility for a cracked hip. In the last week she has gotten worse. Today she tells me that the pain is very bad. We go to her doc tomorrow and will insist on another x-ray or scan which is how they found it in the first place. She could also have a clot in her leg. She is almost blind and had a mastectomy and open heart surgery four years ago. I don't know what I would have done without my daughter.

My father has Dupuytren's contracture where the tendons shrink causing his hands to curl into a fist. HIs vision is shot as well.

Fortunately he is always able to contact me via his cell phone. I found a simple one & programed the speed dials.

I've seen those simple ones advertized with simple large numbers.
$10 a month.

The concern I've heard about the medical alert gizmos is that they are easily activated during routine movement, like Laura in Oregon mentioned.
I like the idea of voice activated! Lets hit the drawing board, Laura!

Where is your mother living? Alone, with you, in a facility?
Lets work on this.

Cheers ~

My Mom has one and it doesn't take much to set them off as my Mom has done accidentily on a number of times. One could use their nuckle, pencil, really anything even your nose. Not to be sarcastic. You could even ask all the companies, as there are many, if they had something easier to work or be voice activated. Only rent the box, don't buy one and it should cost no more than $28 per month. Good Luck! Laura from Oregon
