How is dementia treated?

EXPERT Carol Bradley Bursack, CDSGF Jan 2010
There are many types of dementia, but the most common is Alzheimer's. The next most common is thought to be vascular. There are now drugs on the market that, if taken early enough, can help many people put off the most damaging effects of Alzheimer's for months. For some the drugs help longer than that. Early diagnosis is important.

Also, there are other situations that can make people think that they may have dementia, such as infections and medication interaction. Seek medical care early if you suspect dementia.
