The nursing home won't take my mother because she is going through chemo. Where can she get the care she needs?

My mother (78) is in the hospital and newly diagnosed with myeloma. She is unable to live alone because of physical impairments. Nursing home placement is being recommended by the hospital, however none of the nursing homes are willing to take her because they would be responsible for the cost of chemotherapy and associated visits. The nursing homes say they would end up losing money because of the cost of chemo. My mom has Medicare, medigap insurance AND long term care insurance (which doesn't kick in until after a period of time). None of these help in this situation.

Any ideas? We've been told that she'll probably have to return to her home and hire 24-hour care attendants (and pay them out of pocket).
