In the article there’s a link to check if there’s a pilot program in your area. My husband has Medicare with an Advantage plan-so he’s not qualified in this region of Pa. Yet. I spoke to the program director, husband is on the waiting list if anything changes. The director said there has been a lot of interest. This is an eight year pilot program funded by Medicare and funding went out last September all over the country to hospitals, large medical practices that met very specific criteria. Glad it’s getting started. As caregivers to loved ones with dementia, we need help.
Summary (if you don't want to give your email to get the full article):
"...for the first time, under the GUIDE pilot program, Original Medicare now explicitly covers at-home nursing care (up to 70 hours annually) for dementia patients. This represents a notable expansion of coverage beyond the usual skilled intermittent services, and aims to support both patients and caregivers in the home setting. Meanwhile, Medicare Advantage plans had already begun offering enhanced support, including respite care funding, via earlier implementations of GUIDE."
