Ruth has Alzheimers and there are times that taking a shower really upsets her. Other times not. I have noticed if we do bath time early in the morning she is more likely to not complain. What I do with her is explain everything, step by step to her.As I am explaining what I am doing next, I give her time to adjust to the idea.
