How should we approach coverage of expenses in case private pay caregivers are injured while taking

care of my mother?

Yes,

This is an important issue to research. But I probably have to agree with Crowemagnum, that it is just easier and more reliable to buy from a credible national caregiver association that insures their caregivers. Not to mention that these groups do background checks and training.

I think this concern is possibly a good reason for hiring someone with a credible company who probably will be covered for such work related injuries.

You should check your state laws (the Internet should work) and see what insurance you should be carrying. It is different all over, but you are right to look into this.
