Can Optimum disconnect landline for non payment if 80 yr old has a heart monitor that is connected to the landline?

He has no other option for service and cell phone service does not work in his area

This is a WiFi service? Thats what I get when I researched. Call them and see if there is a program for low income families. Xfinity is where I live and my nephew gets WiFi for $15 a month.

Question:
Who has spoken to optimum about this?

Look at it this way. My city right now reeling under one of those "atmospheric Rivers" storm situations. The streets are full of the homeless in need of shelter, who cannot afford shelter in my city. Will it be provided free? Nope.

You have an 80 year old in need of housing and phone and utilities who cannot pay for is; moreover he's medically and in need of monitoring. He must now access "the system" and pray for help.

Time for him to call doctor who ordered his monitor and to tell him that his service is being turned off for non-payment. Cell phones are now often provided for emergency services to seniors and local Council (or Agency) on Aging must be called for that; my city provides cell phones even to the homeless. However, there won't be any monitoring systems for the heart.

This honestly is an emergency. Housing and utiltities aren't provided to those in need unless it is recognized they exist. This is clearly someone out there unable to support himself and without knowledge on how to access the system. It may be time for placement, applications to medicaid and etc.

You do not tell us your relationship to this person. Whether family or friend it is time for YOU to help with getting access to care or for you to call APS so they can help this senior get care and placement.

Call Optimum, not us -- this is a global forum. He may need to relocate to a place where he can get service.

I would expect they could disconnect for nonpayment regardless of the situation.

Time to reassess the living situation if a heart monitor is essential and no funds to pay for it.
