Have you qualified for Medicaid in home services? If so, they either provide the aide or give you a list of agencies. Some States now have where a family member or friend can be trained to care for you. That person becomes an employee of an agency so they get paid and get benefits. You should have a caseworker assigned to you.
If for some reason you don't have a caseworker, contact your local office on aging to speak with someone who can help you learn your benefits. Or type in your zip code at findhelp.org to see what's available near you.
Medicaid varies by state. Are you elderly, or younger and disabled? It would be helpful to us if you filled out your profile. I think you have to work through your Medicaid caseworker to get aids who are paid through your Medicaid, but I'm not positive. You can't privately hire aids in this scenario. Talk to your caseworker.
