Toileting with dementia.

I have always been told no matter level of cognition, a person can be seated on toilet and given some time will urinate. I have started working at a new facility and was told not to worry as they have an aid on and are double incontinent. I was shocked but due to being new, I’m not comfortable telling them they are wrong. I’m looking for some info that I can have to show my facility

It's easier for staff to put everyone in an incontinence product, that's the bottom line. As dementia advances toileting really is just luck and wishful thinking, but hopefully they do toilet those still capable of continence, at least on a schedule if not as needed.

Supermum6, welcome to the forum. Please go to the green/blue bar at the top of the page, click on CARE TOPICS.... click on the letter "I"... there are numerous articles regarding incontinence. Hopefully these articles will be helpful that you can show the other employees.
