Assisted living with memory patients only or with and without issues?
My husband has dementia. At this point I’m looking into respite care. Some in my area accept memory patients only and others take all types. I’m wondering if anyone has an opinion on which way works better.
If he has memory issue he would be put into memory care .. some facilities have both but memory care is in a complete separate area of that facility .. they all dine together but they don’t interact in the same area .. they are in an area they can’t just walk out of .. own room but just locked in to that wing of the facility
Much depends on your own husband and how/where he may fit into the mix. I would speak with the facilities. Some have a sort of in-between care now. Also a Board and Care is worth exploring. More one on one, often family run, better food, fewer clients, and etc. Unfortunately they are getting to be more rare than hen's teeth. Just the same worth looking for/at.
