Safe wheelchair for assisted living that is used all day.

I see lightweight wheelchairs but wonder if they flip over easily

Roho cushions are great and like $400. But like said worth it. Be sure to put the residents name in permanent marker on it in more than one place. Because of the cost, it could be stolen and its your word against the other resident.

Yes they could be more unstable. Eg If you lean on only one armrest to stand.

If the wheelchair is to be for permanent use, obtain an OT to obtain the right fit + a good pressure relieving cushion.

If for an injury eg 6 weeks or so only, you could hire one.

When my mom was in the nursing home watching other people spend their days in inadequate wheelchairs was one of my pet peeves. When they are spending all their time in a chair it needs to be viewed as more than a means of transportation, it must also be comfortable and supportive. Consider a customized tilt in space wheelchair with a pressure relieving seat cushion (such as ROHO), it's expensive but worth every penny.

Medicare pays for 1 appliance every 5 years for an elder who has benefits. Mom and dad both had a Drive wheelchair, I believe, provided by Medicare. They were just fine and never flipped over even when dad would run it into the wall!
