In regards to the Medicaid Look Back Period, would a house cleaning service cause issues?

Are there any issues with my mom having a maid service the past few years doing her housework (dishes, cat boxes, bathrooms, etc.)? She is disabled and it's not something she can do herself. Curious if that has an effect on the Medicaid Look Back Period.

Thanks, Its written to Mustang Maids not an individual. Perfect.

Just make sure if the checks were written in the name of an individual that you have a bill or invoice that corresponds to the amount paid. If mom is still paying for these services if at all possible start to write the check into the business name….. like Susan Smith Housekeeping Services.

if it’s in a name it can look like $ gifted to an individual rather than payment for a service. Having a receipt resolves any questions.

It's not a problem

Medicaid is looking for quantities of money going to relatives, etc. Reasonable amounts with receipts showing payments to a professional who pays taxes shouldn’t be a problem. Larger than market rates to an adult child may get a second look.

No, she is allowed to pay for care for her. Its gifting money or loaning money that is a problem.

This isn't a problem. It's gifting money or trying to hide it that's a problem, not life and living expenses.
