Does the POA have the right to keep us from seeing my brother?
Alan had a stoke and is now partially parylyzed and cognitively impaired. I asked about visiting, but she said he has a list of 4 people and sees 2 a day. I am not on the list. What can I do?
We need to know more about what relationship exists between you, your brother and the POA, and who the POA is. We cannot address this. Normally the POA does have the power to forbid certain visitors for certain reasons to someone who cannot make decisions for him or herself. So tell us more about this situation and we can perhaps have better input for you. RR is absolutely correct that there are hospital restrictions for visitation. If only two can visit on any given day currently I am certain it is within the purview of the POA to decide who these people are. Try to form a phone tree to fill one another in on condition updates given by the POA.
Ask why you aren't on the list, then request to be put on the list.
The person holding power of attorney does have power, but it should be used judiciously and decisions should be made with good reason. Ask in a non-hostile manner why you aren't allowed to see him.

That would be my 1st thought and my question to whatever facility he is in.
