ONAJURNEY Asked November 2020

My sister has lived in a nursing home the past three years. Her rollator is in need of replacing. Will Medicare cover the 80%?

JoAnn29 Nov 2020
The 80% only comes into the picture when it has to do with health, like doctor and hospital visits. Hopefully the supplimental will pick up the other 20%. Some supplimentals cover durable equipment.

MC pays for a new and necessary appliance once every 5 years; either a walker or a wheelchair. The doc writes the script and the MC approved company delivers it to your door.

They paid for my mother’s. The nurse asked us if her previous rollater was over five years old. It was.

What is the age of your mom’s current rollater? They nurse or doctor will order it for you and ship it straight to your door.

Yes they will cover if prescribed by her doctor and purchased at a Medicare approved supplier.
