Home community support services (HCSS) without ID?

Are HCSS suppose to have working agency ID going into client home especially for first time? I been having issues again with aides and agency just don’t seem to care. Do I have a right not to allow them inside my home without working ID or want to show me a state ID?

Every home care staff should have a visible agency ID specifically for this purpose. I was a homecare RN and everyone of us had a huge placard with the Agency ID and our name and position.
They won’t have a state ID if they aren’t state employees.
You have a right to ask them for ID. They should easily be able to provide a picture ID on an agency issued name tag.

These aides are the agencies aides? If the agency says their aides need IDs then the aide needs to provide it when asked. If you are not comfortable with the accents because it causes a communication problem, request an aide that speaks English well. A reputable Agency should not be hiring anyone that does not have a Green Card. This proves they have been vetted and are here legally. Its against the law to hire illegals.

Wow no need to be racist Joann. Reputable agencies can and do hire workers on H-2b visas. It is racist to assume that people with strong accents are not legal citizens or legally permitted to work in this country. America is a melting pot. English is NOT the official language and many people BORN HERE do not speak English as a first language.

Care agencies are usually privately owned so not sure if they are mandated to have IDs. I worked for a Township Visiting nurse assoc and the nurses carried the Township ID.

Why do you need ID? Why would you not allow them to enter when u hired them? I see no problem in you asking to see their drivers license or State ID if it makes you more comfortable. The aides should have one or the other.

Need more info.

My coordinator from that agency said aides are supposed to have ID. I live in NY in a high crime area and I live alone so for my safety I ask for agency ID. It’s been on my local news that people are getting access to homes pretending to be cable or light company.
Im starting to question why these aides have no ID because they have a very strong accent and a hard time with english. Are they certified or even legal to work.
