JoAnn, are you an elderly person, and has the scam resulted from any activity involved with elder care? I.e., a caregiver, agency, someone just trying to exploit a vulnerable elder?
Really need more info. There are all types of scams out there. Some from foreign countries. There is no way you will be able to get that money back. Very hard to trace.
It depends on the type of scam. Police report would be the first step. If this was on a Credit Card the Credit Card Company might also be able to help. If this was done through the mail the Post Office might also be a help
