Can income tax refund disqualify from Medicaid LTC?

Mom just received a big income tax refund check. This is her first year in Medicaid Long Term Care. The amount would pay for almost 2 months of normal care expenses at her nursing home. She already has prepaid burial plan, new wheelchair, etc. so we can't see how we could spend all this on her needs in a month.

If her bank balance exceeds $2,000 at the end of the month, will she have to re-apply for Medicaid? Or, will Medicaid just bill her more for long term care until it's used up?

Its considered income. You may have to pay 2 months privately and then go back on Medicaid. Call her caseworker.
