Johnevelyn, you may want to try a toilet seat that is a bright color which would be more noticeable. With limited eye sight, the white toilet and white seat tend to look as one.
Of course, one could also try to see if he would sit down to pee, but at this stage and with dementia he may not remember or want to sit down. He might think it isn't manly to sit down, but you can tell him many basketball players do that and think nothing of it.
