Has anyone used a free form online to do a durable power of attorney?

Check your states atty general website. These are completely legal and they have DPOA, GPOA, MPOA AND MHPOA. Our were fillable pdf formats and I have not had any problems with it. The Bank even accepted it and they will not accept any POA that is questionable.

One has to be very careful with a do-it-yourself legal document. All it takes is one missing word or one misplaced word to cause havoc when the time comes to use said signed document.

One also has to check State laws regarding who can be a Witness and how many Witnesses are needed. Plus, a Witness can not be the Notary.

I've used Legalzoom.com You can purchase differing/higher levels of legal scrutiny. But what AlvaDeer stated below is true, especially if the person creating the docs are advanced in years. I don't think it's necessary if a younger person is creating it.

I would recommend a lawyer. DPOA can often come down to depending on the state of mind of the person giving it. A lawyer will interview the person giving DPOA to make certain that they are of sound mind and not being coerced in any way, then often can act also as the notary. It will cost some money but they can often come to the home to do this form. I am on the side of some things being very air tight and not open to question.
