Does the VA help WWII widow with paying for nursing home care?

My dad was a WWII DAV and received a pension since the war. It grew over the year until he reached 100% DA. However, when he died, they denied my mother all of his pension, stating she had too much money. She does get supplemental health insurance through ChampVA which pays for everything approved by Medicare, but not paid by Medicare. She is 92 and I have been told she needs to go to a nursing home. Does anyone know if the VA will help in this matter?

Probably not. There is aid & attendance that helps pay for for nursing homes but if the VA denied her any survivors benefits because she had too much income, she probably wouldn’t be eligible for A&A, there are income and asset requirements.
