Any hints on treating black/furry tongue?

My 94 yr old mom has this, but none of her dental physicians have been able to help.

If she is able to open her mouth and cooperate with you, a tongue scraper will probably work the best. Needs to be done daily and needs to be done as far back on the tongue as you can reach. Even better if she is able to do it herself. I read a lot of mouthwashes can actually make it worse. https://www.stylecraze.com/articles/effective-home-remedies-for-furry-tongue/#gref
