I have an elderly mother (100) that has lived with me in the state of Michigan for 3.5 years. Does her VA aid and attendance count as income when applying for Medicaid?

She recieves VA Aid and Attendance benefits plus Social Security. Does the VA aid and attendance count as income when applying for Medicaid insurance?

A&A is not considered an asset when applying for Medicaid, as it usually is stopped once Medicaid kicks in. My mom was in AL and received A&A. When she transitioned to NH and was Medicaid, the A&A was stopped since Medicaid was picking up the bill. It did take a year for the VA to close her claim, but we knew that all money deposited to her account during that period would need to be returned to the VA.
