My mom designated me POA in NY however my mom is in FL and has developed dementia. My sister refuses to send her back to NY. Is my POA effective in FL?

Aging55, State laws could be different. I would ask the New York attorney if your Power of Attorney is recognized in Florida.

Why does your sister not want to send her back?

Would your mom be living with you?

Does she live with your sister right now? Does your sister receive any money for caring for her?

If your mom is settled and comfortable with your sister, why would you want to further confuse her (with the dementia), by moving her?

Can you give a few more details?

As far as I know, a POA is good throughout the U.S.
