I have a client with extreme memory issues. He is in denial and tries to use the stove, oven, drive. How can I convince the family to ok meds?

Would med help the patient with his behavior? It doesn't seem to me that medications would change this. Anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks. I am private caregiver and have done this once to have Dr. know recent status but nothing was said by the Dr to family. I'm going to try again but be clear on what is paramount in this person's mental state. Wish me luck.

Well, if they won't listen to you, will they listen to their father's doctor?

If you can't, either, persuade them to call the doctor, you could consider yourself a quasi-mandated reporter, report your client's behaviour to your client's doctor, and ask the doctor to contact the family to discuss their father's overall care plan. Get the go-ahead from your line manager or agency before you do this, if you're not your own boss.
