Waking up multiple times in the middle of the night -how to handle this?

What is the best way to deal with a parent that wakes up 4 to 5 times a night (or more some nights)? Eventually I just let her get up but I am not sure that is the right thing to do. I keep telling her it is the middle of the night and too early to get up. She goes back to sleep for 30 minutes and then starts calling for me again. She has a large clock next to her bed but even when she remembers to look at it it really doesn't mean anything to her. She still asks me if it is too early to get up. I barely get any sleep because it takes me so long to go back to sleep each time. I have to work the next day but she can just rest and sleep while the caregiver is here. I'm not sure if I should let her get up or just keep telling her to go back to sleep. Any suggestions on what to do? I can't keep doing this every night. It is starting to happen more and more nights. I hate the thought of getting a caregiver for nighttime but that may be the only option. It would be so much money to spend for those nights when she does actually sleep through but it might be the only solution. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ask her doctor about medication to help her sleep. My mom was started on mirtazapine for this very reason, and the antidepressant not only helped her sleep but improved her functioning during the day. Although this medication may not be right for your mom there are a whole lot of options available depending on your mom's needs.
