You may not want to allow a feeding tube. My daughter in an RN in LTC and her thinking is once it's allowed, you Can't have it removed. At ur Moms age my daughter feels that nature should take it course because it's not considered starving a patient but removing the feeding tube is. If you r talking about UTIs these are hard to clear up and being diabetic doesn't help. The right antibiotic needs to be found. Hopefully they can get Mom fixed up. If it is a UTI, you can ask the doctor to talk to the doctor associated with the home and ask for regular tests to catch the UTI before it gets painful. Mom was put on cranberry capsules for the UTI and a probiotic for the antibiotics which cause yeast infections. She also was catherized to get the urine remaining in her bladder. UTIs reoccur because the elderly can no longer void completely.
Hospice may want to treat mom in the CH, but with their additional oversight, her care will be much better. I would not hesitate to leave her where she's been living if hospice comes in to tend her every so often. Hugs! This is so hard, I know.
She's in a convalescent home but I don't think they're taking very good care of her she keeps getting infections she's in the hospital right now though and she's 85 years old and she's just in a lot of pain so I know I did call the hospice today and I will set up an appointment for an evaluation her sugar level went up to 800 in the convalescent home I don't get that

I'm sorry that she's suffering but hospice should be able to get that under control.
Has your mom been evaluated for hospice?
They might could help her more with her pain.
