What is the standard for 24/7 in home care providers?

Is the senior required to provide all meals for their care provider in addition to wage?

Yes, room and meals are included. However, when you interview the perspective care giver you want to ask questions such as; what type of food do you normally eat, I have seen my friends end up purchasing food from international markets and organic food. This care giver has never eaten any food like this before, her food bill just for the care giver was over $250/week, only $75/week for her mom. The agency also expected my friend to buy the care giver her personal items along with getting her hair done and nails done. Please make sure you ASK a lot of questions and seek out many agencies before signing.

In my experience, a live in home care aide receives room and board in addition to the wage. The ones I have seen often buy some of their own foods to meet their preferences. On occasion, I would take my mom and her aide to the supermarket for an 'outing' and shopping. It suited lots of purposes. Our aide was totally respectful and said she needed some things and kept them in the cart separate. As long as the purchases didn't seem extraordinary, I would pay for them but she didn't expect that and thanked me profusely.
The aides my friend had would do some of their own shopping and it was often special foods they enjoyed. (I would relieve them for an afternoon and they would go out on this type of expedition)

The service I hired my Mom's aide through,  did make it clear that room and board was part of the deal for a live in aide. Hope this helps.
