Is it better to put assets into a home to get Medicaid?

I only have 400k, a car. California or Nevada trying to decide which state to locate in sold home but know at some point i will not be able to care for husband. Do I need to decline social security to qualify?  Limits income?

If you are in the Las Vegas area there are four lawyers certified in elder care. There are others that practice elder care but are not certified.

Debra, make an appointment to see an Elder Law Attorney so you can learn all the ins and out regarding Medicaid. The Attorney can give you the best advice on what to do regarding said $400k whenever it is a good idea to put the money into a house [Medicaid can put a lien on the house] or whether to use up the money being self-paid for your care.
