What are Medicaids guidelines for being away from home?

Is the assisted living facility private pay? They probably have a policy in place for people who leave and return. In my mother's case, it's private pay, but medicaid paid for rehab. The facility needed to assess my other prior to her return. They did chard her for her room, but not the additional costs associated to caregiving.
